Welcome to Milo Robert Hunter
On March 25th I became a grandmother for the first time. And, to set the record straight, I am 38. Just to be clear. ;-)
My stepdaughter Jennifer and her husband Rob had their first child, a beautiful little boy.
I am so excited to get to know Milo and to have the opportunity to watch him grow up into his own little person.

Maggie Stealing My Hammock!
At this point I am fondly remembering warm summer days lying in my hammock - I love my hammock!
What is funny as my schnoodle Maggie loves my hammock too. She likes to lie in it with me which makes for very snuggly afternoons when it isn't too hot out, but she also has been known to steal it on me before I can get in myself.
Here she is, enjoying it.

I can't help but feel she is laughing at me in the photo below. :)

Zensight Is Going to ACEP!
I recently learned that I have been accepted as a presenter at the spring 2009 Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP) Conference.
I feel very excited to have this opportunity! ACEP is a wonderful organization that helps to promote the use of energy psychology techniques, as well as advancing research and addressing ethical concerns when practicing energy psychology techniques.

Quitting Smoking with Zensight
I recently had the pleasure of working with someone who wanted to quit smoking.
He had been approximately a pack a day smoker for a few decades, and had initially come to see me in relation to another personal concern. When that concern resolved mostly in the first session and then completely in the second session, he was pretty surprised (having come to me looking for "therapy" and not expecting or familiar with energy psychology approaches) and asked me if I thought I could help him to quit smoking.
I said I was game to try! Haven't recently interviewed John Diepold during the monthly ACEP teleclass, I had learned more about applying EP to addictions and was excited for a chance to help someone with smoking cessation.
If you have not heard about John Diepold previously, he is the creator of the Touch and Breathe (TAB) approach to tapping modalities such as EFT. This is the method I prefer to use myself when I tap (yes, sometimes I still use EFT for myself or with clients - it all depends on what feels right in the moment!) as I find it more restful and contemplative, and often insights are gained in a way that I find is not always the case with "tapping"....though is typical with Zensight. :)
John said that often when treating addictions - which includes any behaviour that someone wants to stop or change such as overeating, working too much, etc... - that it is often helpful rather than (or in addition to) processing away their upset, to target the enjoyment they get from the behaviour until it no longer feels enjoyable to them.
With my client this is exactly what I did. We focused on processing away the enjoyment he got from smoking, as well as processing a number of related concerns that were specific to his situation, and some that are typical of most people who smoke or have similar addictions.
I am happy to say that he is now a non smoker!
Best of all, we worked on the smoking for a grand total of two sessions!
After our first session targetting smoking cessation, there was a three week gap when we next met. At that time he told me he was down to three cigarrettes a day (this from a pack a day....), and he had had NO difficulty or discomfort in cutting back.
We did the second session, noticing the odd slight cravings he was having and any other relation concerns or perceived enjoyment of smoking and processed that. He noted that while it hadn't been difficult to cut back he was perceiving each cigarrette he had to be a "reward" for having done so well.
He told me that while he was still, according to his own self developed plan still "allowed" to have one more cigarette that day, he felt he could now skip it, and that he was going to cut back to just two cigarettes the following day and "by Saturday" (we were meeting on a Monday) he was going to be smoke free.
He felt so confident and at peace with all of it and such a sense of excitement that he did not feel he needed to book another appointment as quitting smoking was just feeling so easy that he didn't think he needed any more help with it.
I asked him to keep in touch and let me know how it went and I have heard from him a few times now, saying that he is fully smoke free, he feels great, and he can NOT imagine every going back to smoking, there is just nothing he misses about it and his lungs and breathing just feel more and more clear every day.
While individual responses may certainly vary, This is the power of energy pyschology...to help smooth out the bumps; the mental, emotional and spiritual blocks; and to allow making healthier choices to become easier, faster, and...almost effortless!

Fun with Wii Fit!
Okay, okay. I've been seriously negligent of my blog and keeping things updated. I've been too busy living life, having fun, and seeing clients.
I did take 2 trips to Mexico this winter...one in January to Ixtapa and again in March to Cancun. As one of my clients said, I am single-handedly trying to boost Mexico's economy.
However, in spite of my blogging hiatus today I am so excited about something that I had to come on and write about it right away - Wii Fit!!
Wii Fit was just released today. I pre-ordered it back in January or February so I got mine today. It is so much fun.
Seriously, if you don't have a Wii it is worth getting it for this game alone.
The game is like a personal trainer in a way...it comes with a balance board that you use not only to play the game but it also calculates your weight, BMI, etc...
It has yoga, strength training, aerobics, and balancing games.
The more exercise time you log in and the better you do, the more points you get. As you start getting more points and as you get better at the game, you unlock new areas/games.
It also brings your "mii's" (Wii characters that you have created or downloaded online) into the games.
I gotta tell you there is nothing funnier than doing the hula alongside Chewbacca and a Storm Trouper (from Star Wars). I have never seen a hip-happier Storm Trouper than the one who was hula-ing with me!
If you have a Wii, check online where you can download new Mii's. There is a Mr. Bean Mii that is my absolute favourite - makes me laugh every time.
Anyways - this game is extremely fun and very good exercise. I logged in 1 hour and 9 mins exercise with it this evening and if I wasn't so tired, I'd still be going!

20Q & Nintendo DS
Two other wildly popular items at my house this Christmas were Nintendo DS and the 20Q.
Nintendo DS is a personal video game system....my kids each got one for Christmas in 2006, but this year I got one from my Dad.
Nintendo DS is rising in popularity among adults. I personally know five adults who own one. They have created a number of games for it that appeal to many grownups - Brain Age 1 and 2, Brain Academy, New York Times Crossword Puzzles, etc...
I got my DS just before Christmas and for the kids and I purchased the My French Coach game for it. Both of my kids are in french immersion at school (they receive half of their teaching in english and half in french) and I would like to improve my French. So far, it's working!
I also really love the game Picross, and like to play against others with it, online.
20Q is an electronic "20 Questions" game. My kids were asking for it and I was dubious as to how much entertainment value it would have...however they got me to play with it in a store one day and I started to realize it was pretty fun.
What really surprised me, however, is how much my husband Kevin loves the 20Q game! Christmas Day I must have heard him say, well over a dozen times "I'm just going to play one more time."
Even today he's told me he's played it eight times so far (I suspect more! :-)).
You basically think of something and the game has to guess what you are thinking of. We have tried to stump it and have succeeded a few times (it guessed a "basketball" when we were thinking "globe"; "a grain of sand" when I was thinking of a pebble"; and "nightmare" when we were thinking "poverty" (well, in a way it could be right!)).
However, the vast majority of the time, the game guesses correctly and has successfully identified such things as an amoeba, a sea cucumber, and a parasite.
Yes, we are a family that loves gadgets and gizmos, it seems!
